Janet's Progress

1/4/08 10:40pm

Janet passed away around 10pm in mom's home.
Mom as promised was with her every minute until she passed.

1/3/08

Janet is about the same aside from a few changes in her vital signs.  We (my sister Leota and I) feel she is comfortable and happy to be at home with mom.  She is loved more than words could possibly say by us (her family) and mom has gone above and beyond  taking care of her with a lot of assistance from Leota.  They are two of the strongest and most giving people I have ever known and I am blessed to call them my family.

1/1/08

Janet is still unconscious and resting.  She has difficulty breathing from time to time, however she is for the most part without pain.  Hospice felt the meds she is given would slow her breathing, heartrate, and lower her blood preasure and allow her to finally rest, however she is not letting go.  This is not uncommon when their are young children involved, the heart knows there is unfinished life.  They say the body will naturally fight to survive and the bible says we have eternity in our hearts.  There has never been a greater love in Janet's life than her children and it is no surprise that she will hold on even unconsciously as a mother for her children.

12/31/2007

There is no change, Janet is still sedated and in little too no pain.  Leota and Mom and with her, as well as her best friend Jennifer.

12/30/2007 11:00pm

Leota called to let me know Janet is sedated and not in pain, her heart rate is slowing, as Hospice said it would and she will hopefully stay painless until she can finally be at peace.

12/30/2007 3:00pm

Janet is resting without pain today.  She is not conscious and according to Hospice will not be again.  I will try to update this site as often as I can, I know many family and friends want to know how she is and I understand.  It is hard to update at times, but I will do my best.

12/29/2007

Janet has had many days of uncontrollable pain; Hospice has tried several pain management cocktails with no success.  Janet has requested the constant pain to stop.  This evening they administered meds through the IV that will place her into a sedation where she will not be conscious and will not be in pain.  She requested this from Hospice and mother signed the papers.  They started the IV around 7:00 pm this evening and around Midnight she slept without pain.

12/25/2007

Donna, our mother, has been caring for Janet full time in Janet's home in Orangevale, CA.  Janet has requested no in home nursing care other than her mom.  Two days before Christmas Janet was transported by ambulance to Mercy hospital in Sacramento, she was in pain and having many difficulties.  They attempted a surgical procedure to repair damage to her catheter, it was not a success.  Janet did not return home Christmas Day with her children, but instead she went home with mom.  She made the ultimate sacrifice to move out of her home as she wants her children comfortable, she has constant pain and does not want her children to witness anymore suffering.  She will be cared for full time by my mother, Leota, and her friend Jennifer.  Her children are confused, however they are much loved.  Tyler her oldest son is staying with Kim (me) and my family and Jacob is staying with us off and on as well.

11/22/2007

This is so difficult to write, I have so many times thought I should update this, but I wanted so much to update it with good news, so I waited.  The update is grim, Janet is no longer in chemo, it was not successful.  Janet is not doing well, there is too many sad details too list, Hospice has set up a hospital bed in her home and she still suffers in much pain, but they do try to stay ahead of it.  We talk alot and she is scared and very disappointed!
Her biggest fear is leaving her boys, she reads the bible constantly and loves Jehovah with all her heart.  I know she will be in the new system of things and we will all be happy to be reunited one day.

09/18/2007

Janet  continues with experimental chemo, nutritional diet,
alterntives, and most of all prayer.
Please continue to pray and leave messages for
Janet onthe Thank you page.

08/11/2007

Janet is still taking the experimental chemo treatments.  She continues to take several alternatives and follows a very strict nutrition diet.  There are other alternative treatments we are currently looking into.
We will continue to pray and research!

07/10/07

I know it has been awhile since I updated the site.  After returning home Janet continued the alternative treatments.  It did not seem to be enough, so Janet has started an Experimental Chemo at UCD.
She is currently in the program and will have scans an updates for the progress in a month or so.  I will update with any news.

05/19/07

Janet returned home yesterday.  She will continue her treatments here in the Sacramento area.  She is feeling better, however she is still experiencing a lot of pain
and has a long road ahead.  She is happy to be home with her family and is trying to keep a positive outlook on her treatments.  Be sure to check out the Sound Of Healing page for more information on the July 28, 2007 Fundraising Benefit.

05/10/07

Janet had a wonderful visit with her children.  She did well in her treatments last week, but had a few rough spots this week.  Acupuncture was difficult and required her to rest more than usual.  The doctors have extended her treatment for an additional week.  If things go as planned she will be on May 19, 2007.  She will have to continue her off site treatments when she returns home.  Thank you again for all the support, prayers, and donations, it is so much more appreciated than words can say.

Wednesday 05/02/2007

Progress has been slow, however there has been some good changes in Janet's condition.  She has been able to take all her treatments this week.
A lot of the swelling has gone down and the tumor is showing some signs of change.
The doctors have shared with us that this is a slow process, however the changes are all positive.  Her children will be visiting her this weekend, her treatment plan has been extended for at least two weeks.

Friday 04/27/2007

Janet was able to complete her treatments today, however she and mom had a difficult night in the emergency room.  She continues to have problems with the catheter.
She will have treatments tomorrow, so I will update Monday.

Wednesday 04/25/2007

Sorry it took so long to update. Fever dropped over the weekend.  Monday was a good day for Janet, she was able to complete all of her treatments.  In addition to completing her treatments Tuesday, they gave Janet one of Fourteen anti-virus injections to try and kill the virus that started this cancer.
The day was also difficult because Janet's fourteen year old son Tyler had sign ups for Highschool and she wanted so much to be with him.
Wednesday was very difficult, as the injections made her sick and run fever again.
She was not able to attend the treatments today.  Hopefully tomarrow will be better.
I will update site on Friday.

Friday 04/20/2007

Janet was unable to attend treatment today.  She still has a fever and is not feeling well enough to receive the treatments.  She is currently in detox, it is very hard on the body and she feels extremly sick most of the time.  She will rest over the weekend and hopefully feel well enough to continue detox on Monday.
Please sign in on the Thank You page if you have time.  Janet likes to read it and really enjoys uplifting stories and prayers.

Thursday 04/19/2007

Janet felt better today.  The antibiotics helped with the infection and she was able to resume some of her treatments today.  She is having a difficult time.  I will update the web site tomorrow, hopefully we'll get more hopeful news.   I also want to say Thank You for the donations that have been sent.  We know Thank You is not enough and I wish I had a way to express how much it is and has been appreciated.

Wednesday 04/18/2007

Unfortunately today was not good.  Janet woke to unbelievable pain and nausea.  She contracted an infection that made her sick with a high fever.  The doctors had to treat her in her room, as she was in too much pain to go to the facility.  She was unable to attend any scheduled cancer treatments today, we hope with antibiotics will bring relief and she can resume her cancer treatments tomorrow.

Monday 04/16/2007

Janet  started the IV treatment today.
After returning to her room for rest, she had extreme itching in the lower part of her incision from the surgery.  Leota reported the change in her condition to the doctor and he stated it was a good sign that the treatments had began to work.  Apparently the tumor is showing sign of agitation, which is good.  I can only share the little amount I somewhat understood, as this is all so beyond normal.  From what I understood her body has not been fighting the tumor.  It doesn't see the tumor as a problem, so it doesn't react to it the way the bodies natural defense system should.  That is part of why they call it clear cell.   Clear in a way the body does not see, so it does not react, however the high doses of cancer fighting alternatives should boost the body awareness and allow the natural process of the defense system to work.

I can give and example to this:
A wart is a virus on the skin.  It forms when the body does not respond to it and kill it.  It will stay and grow until the body recognizes the foreign virus and kills it.  That is why over time a wart may heal itself without medication, as it may at some point realize the virus is there, seeks it out and kill it, wart falls off.  There are over the counter medications that help with this process, even simple tape on the wart has been known to work,  reason is you suffocate the wart causing an alarm system to go off in the body, the defense in our body then seeks out the problem, recognizes the wart and then kills it.  It is however the body killing the wart, this is somewhat the same concept with Janet's Tumor.  The body needs to see the problem to fix the problem.  Causing the agitation will send a signal from the tumor to the brain, so the natural defense will seek and destroy.

Thursday 04/12/2007

Janet's medical records, scans, and current condition was evaluated and they accepted her case.  The Issels has an extensive treatment program planned for Janet starting the day after arrived.  Janet left with mom and Leota for Santa Barbara on April 15, 2007.

Tuesday 4/10/2007

After evaluating Janet's prognosis and the stage of the cancer, The Healing Center does not look like the best choice for Janet.  We have looked further and had recommendations for treatment at www.isselsmedicalcenter.com

Sunday 4/1/2007

Sorry for the break in progress.  The days that have followed the surgery have been difficult to say the least.  Janet returned home from the hospital 3/27/2007.  She has had a difficult week with pain.  Her incision has made it difficult in addition the cancer.

Alternative update: We are working with Ellyn Hilliard a the Healing Center www.thehealingcenter.info in Orangevale.  We had a phone consult on Saturday and will see her when she return to CA on April 9, 2007.  We have started some of the alternative treatments prior to her first appointment and look forward to Janet feeling better.

Again if you have any info, recipes, prayers, or just a thought you would like to share, please feel free.

Janet reads the Guest Book.  If you would like to sign in, go to the Thank You page and click on sign in.

Thank you again for all your support and prayers.
